Get to Know Your Therapist:
Sharon Gilbert
Hello! I’m Sharon Gilbert, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with 28 years of experience in the field. I specialize in helping clients navigate the complexities of parenting, divorce, and anxiety.
Throughout my career, I’ve developed a deep understanding of how life’s challenges can affect individuals and families, and I’m here to help guide you through those struggles with compassion and expertise.
One of the aspects I’m most passionate about in my work is helping clients identify what areas of their lives they want to work on. I truly believe in empowering people to make meaningful changes that improve their well-being. Together, we’ll work through obstacles and develop practical strategies to bring about real transformation.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working in various environments, which has allowed me to gain a diverse set of skills and approaches. This broad experience helps me meet clients where they are and tailor therapy to fit their unique needs. Whether through CBT, DBT, psychodynamic therapy, or family systems approaches, I’m committed to finding what works best for each individual.
I earned my Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Benedictine University, where I honed my skills in both theory and practical application. I bring this knowledge, along with years of real-world experience, to my work with clients. And while I could share many memorable experiences from my career, I believe the most important one is helping each person achieve the changes they want to see in their lives.
Outside of my professional life, I enjoy camping and hiking—activities that allow me to connect with nature and recharge. I find these experiences enrich my life and deepen my ability to support others through their own journeys.
Creating a warm, welcoming environment is essential to me as a therapist. It’s important that clients feel comfortable and safe when sharing their thoughts and experiences. I also believe in connecting with clients through empathic responses, letting them know I’m truly listening and understanding what they’re going through.
I want you to know that I have the map, but YOU will be the one driving. I’m here to guide and support you every step of the way, and I believe in your ability to create positive and meaningful changes in your life.
