Get to Know Your Therapist:
Ryan Muir, LPC
Hello. I’m Ryan Muir, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I specialize in counseling individuals struggling with addiction and trauma, while also teaching adaptability and resilience.
As a person with a disability, I lead my life with the mindset of "differently abled" rather than "disabled." This mindset carries over into my therapeutic approach. Finding a balance between out-of-the-box thinking and openness for growth and change can become incredibly healing. I bring an eclectic, individualized approach to therapy primarily rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered, Solution-Focused, and Gestalt modalities, to name a few. I recently completed EMDR training.
I specialize in bringing therapeutic interventions to people facing common challenges in their everyday lives. My expertise extends to helping people deal with issues such as low self-esteem, confidence issues, depression, anxiety, addictions, grief and loss, trauma, acceptance, coping with physical disabilities and navigating life’s transitions and changes.
My unique perspective as a differently-abled therapist allows me to bring a fresh approach to therapy, one that focuses on resilience, adaptability, and the strength within to overcome adversity. We all see life through our unique lens. This lens forms through life’s experiences, good, bad, and indifferent. As a differently-abled person who has “walked the walk”, I firmly believe that we often have more say in our life’s journey than we realize. I’m passionate about helping others who may feel stuck in their life, instead helping them to see that there is a way to change their core beliefs and lead a happy and healthy life.
Real courage and strength come from doing the work most of us would rather avoid. Let’s work together and break free from the chains that keep us stagnant.
